Nicole Dabney

Nicole Dabney, Principal

Education and Experience: Mrs. Dabney has her Master’s Degree is in Human Services and enjoys working with and helping children and their families.  She is originally from Nebraska and enjoys rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Mrs. Dabney relocated to Texas in 2014.  She has three girls and enjoys spending time with them, her husband and her pets.     

 

Jennifer Angel, Second Grade Teacher

Education and Experience: Mrs. Angel was born and raised in East Texas. In 2014 she and her husband relocated to the DFW area. Her husband is an IT specialist for a company in Dallas. Mrs. Angel graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Science. She later earned two teaching certifications one in general education EC-6th grade, as well as a certification in Special Education

Education and Experience: Ms.Anthony graduated from Texas Women's University in 2018 with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. This is her second year teaching with PTAA Mesquite Elementary her goal this year is to create an environment that supports and motivates her students to be the very best they can be!

 

Kristalyn Birdine, K-5 PE Teacher

Education and Experience: Coach Birdine graduated from the University of North Texas in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. She holds an All-Level PE certification and is working on her Health certification this year. She is a board certified Athletic Trainer and  This is her 10th year in education and her first year at PTAA Mesquite Elementary. In her spare time, Coach Birdine loves working out, playing flag football, playing sand volleyball, coaching club volleyball, and spending time with her daughter and her dog. Coach Birdine enjoys all things active, health and sports-related and hopes to ignite this same passion in her students and the entire campus this year!

 

Julieta Esquivel, K-5 Spanish Teacher

Education and Experience: Ms. Esquivel received her bachelors in Bilingual Education fromTexas A&M University-Commerce. Ms. Esquivel has taught grades K-5 for the last 3 years and was born in Coahuila, Mexico and raised in the United States since she was 4 years old. This is Ms. Esquivel 2nd year teaching at PTAA. In her spare time Ms. Esquivel loves being outdoors, running and likes spending time with her friends and family. Ms. Esquivel really enjoys going to church with her boyfriend and family as well. Her favorite part of teaching is to bring much of her culture into the classroom as possible. She believes that a good education shapes not only minds but hearts as well.

 

LaVerna Greenlee

Education and Experience:  Ms. Greenlee holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s of Education with a focus on teacher leadership.  She is certified as a Generalist in grades EC-8, GT and ESL certified.  This is her second year at PTAA and has 17 years of teaching experience.  Teaching has always been her dream and passion and she wants to instill in her students a lifelong love of learning.

 

Sondra Hopper, 4-5th Grade Math Teacher

Education and Experience: Mrs.Hopper has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from The University of Texas at Tyler and Education Certification from LeTourneau University. She has her certification in 4-8 Generalist, EC-6 Core Studies, EC-12 Special Education, and EC-12 ESL. She has been teaching for 23 years. Mrs.Hopper has taught all core courses in private, public, charter, and community college. She has been honored to be named Teacher of the Year for Grand Saline Intermediate. She is also a Teacher Leadership Advocate for the Texas Public Charter Schools Association. The best part of teaching is what she learns from the children.

 

Angela Longino

Education and Experience:  Ms. Longino graduated from Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a lifetime certificate in Elementary Education 1st-8th grade. Ms. Longino has worked in education for 33 years serving as Special Education TA, Campus Teacher/Technologist, and classroom teacher in grades 1-6. She moved to Texas in 1994 where she worked in the Dallas Independent School District for 19 years before going to work in private schools. Ms. Longino joined Meadow Oaks Academy in 2017 which has now changed to PTAA Mesquite Elementary Charter school. Ms. Longino is a great cook and enjoys going to the lake, cookouts, and spending time with her 7 grandchildren.

Education and Experience: Ms. McDonough received her Bachelors of Early Childhood Education and holds a Project Lead the Way STEM Certification for Launch Curriculum and Code.org Coding certification. She has been teaching at the elementary school level for 10 years with 7 of them teaching 2nd grade.  This is her first year teaching STEM to the campus full time. She is the mother of two and enjoys reading and cooking.  Her goal for the school year is to focus on each child’s individual strengths, expand the students’ knowledge from that point and help the students problem solve in the real world.  She feels that teachers are advisors and students learn to become collaborators in what interests them.

Education and Experience: Mrs. Rice graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in education. I have been an elementary substitute for many years and have taught children from 3 years old - 1st grade. My husband and I just moved to the Dallas area with our dog and cat, and are looking forward to exploring the area and making new friends.

Education and Experience: Ms. Rosales proudly graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Bioenvironmental Sciences in 2019. After graduating, she was a long-term substitute with Forney ISD. This will be her first year with PTAA and she is so excited to begin her new journey. Ms. Rosales loves to visit the lake with her dog and boyfriend, take care of her houseplants, & graphic design/craft in her spare time. She hopes to instill a love for learning in her Kindergarten students this year.

Education and Experience: Ms. Salinas has a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-Commerce.  She has her 1-8 Elementary English, 1-8 Self Contained, and ESL certifications. Ms. Salinas has taught grades 4th through 8th over the last 16 years in Texas.  This is Ms. Salinas’ first year teaching at PTAA.  Her favorite part of teaching is when students get interested in learning more about an idea or subject.

Education and Experience: Mrs. Salinas has an associates degree in liberal arts and is currently pursuing a bachelors in interdisciplinary studies with an ECE focus k-6th at Texas A&M University Commerce. This is her 6th year in the education field. She has taught art k-6. and was named paraprofessional of the year in 2019 at an elementary for the district of Forney. Mrs salinas enjoys traveling with her family and dog, and loves to sing and collect Vinyl records. Her goal this year is to teach her students the fundamentals of music and art while having fun and spreading joy to each student whenever possible.

Chelsea Stark, Kindergarten Teacher

Education and Experience: Mrs. Stark received her Bachelors in Integrative Studies from the University of North Texas. Mrs. Stark has taught grades K-6 for the last 8 years and has lived in Texas her whole life. Mrs. Stark comes from Forney and this will be her first year at PTAA.  In her spare time Mrs. Stark loves to read, play board games, play volleyball, and spend time with her family. Mrs. Stark, her husband, and daughter really enjoy camping as well. Her favorite part of teaching is the joy on the students faces whenever they are learning or conquering a difficult problem!  

 

Keri Thornton

Education and Experience: Mrs. Thornton earned her Bachelor's Degree in Humanities from the University of Texas.  She is certified to teach Early Childhood though Eighth Grade with English as a Second Language and Early Childhood through Twelfth Grade Special Education.  She also holds an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education.  Mrs. Thornton is currently working on her Master's Degree in Education at Arkansas State University.  She and her husband Jeff reside in Mesquite.  She enjoys travel and cooking in her spare time.  Mrs. Thornton believes that education is a life-long endeavor.

Education and Experience:  Mr. John has worked since 1992 in private schools. This is his second year here with P.T.A.A. Charter school. Mr. John has been a teachers aid,  gym teacher, bus driver, preschool and afterschool programs. He also coordinate and felicitate summer programs. Mr John has been married and widowed with two daughters and six grandkids.

 Education and Experience: Jeffrey McDonough is currently in his third year teaching at the PTAA Beltline campus. He is currently working towards his Bachelor's Degree in Middle School/High school Education focusing on Mathematics.  He has his PLTW Launch Certification and is working towards his Code.org Certification.  He wants to ensure students that come to his class are able to learn the basics of computer skills and interworking. In his spare time, he enjoys watching anime and playing games with his friends and family.



Melissa Naser

Melissa Naser, Reading Recovery

Education and Experience:  Ms. Naser has been teaching since 1992 and has over twenty -five years experience as an ESL/ELAR teacher. Ms. Naser has taught grades K-7 English Language Arts abroad and served as Grades K – 3 coordinator from 2010 -2013 at the American International School in the UAE. Ms. Naser served as the ELAR teacher for grades 3-5 at Meadow Oaks Academy from 2016 -2018.  She is currently completing her Dyslexia training through the University of London and Dyslexia International, and the Orton- Gillingham Online Academy. Ms. Naser  loves traveling, cooking and spending time with family. 

 

Donna Townsend

Education and Experience: This is Mrs. Townsend's 7th  year teaching and her 2nd year at PTAA Mesquite Elementary.  She has been married for 22 years and has 2 children.  Mrs. Townsend feels that inquiry and education opens many windows to the world.  She loves spending time with family and gardening.
